Land Dispute Turns Violent in Kharadi; Corporator’s Husband Among Nine Booked
Pune: A case has been registered at Kharadi Police Station against eight persons, including the husband of a Pune Municipal Corporation corporator, for allegedly assaulting a security guard during a dispute over a plot of land in the Kharadi area. The incident has created a stir in the locality, and the police have launched an investigation.
The accused include Pritam Khandve (41), Pankaj Sanjay Patole (34), a JCB operator, and several others. Pritam Khandve is the husband of corporator Shreyas Khandve from Ward No. 3.
The complaint was lodged by Altaf Amjad Shaikh (26), a resident of Aaple Ghar Society in Kharadi. Altaf Shaikh has been looking after a plot owned by Parvati Patil in Kharadi for the past five to six years.
According to the police, disputes over the land had arisen earlier as well. In December 2022, a case related to the same property was registered at Airport Police Station. At that time, the Tehsildar had issued an order restraining Pritam Khandve from entering the disputed land.
As per the complaint, on the night of May 30, Pritam Khandve arrived at the site along with several others and a JCB machine. When they allegedly attempted to begin work on the land, security guard Altaf Shaikh questioned them about it. The complainant has alleged that the accused then verbally abused and physically assaulted him.
After being informed about the incident, landowner Parvati Patil alerted the police, who subsequently reached the spot. Following medical treatment for his injuries, Altaf Shaikh filed a complaint at Kharadi Police Station.
Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case against Pritam Khandve and seven others. Authorities are now investigating the background of the land dispute, whether the Tehsildar’s order was violated, and the allegations of assault. Further investigation is being carried out by Kharadi Police.
