13th Year of the Initiative; 20 Couples Tied the Knot

Pune: A grand mass wedding ceremony organized by the Bhagwan Agrasen Charitable Foundation, which works to support poor and needy families as part of its social commitment, was held with great enthusiasm on Sunday. A total of 20 couples entered into the sacred bond of marriage during the ceremony.

The event was organized at Goyal Garden on Gangadham Road, in front of Aai Mata Temple, where a grand pavilion was erected across nearly three acres of land. The initiative was organized on the occasion of the 73rd birthday of senior social worker Ratanlal Goyal.

All wedding rituals were performed according to traditional Hindu customs. Several dignitaries from social, political, and industrial sectors attended the ceremony and blessed the newly married couples. Among those present were former MLA Mohan Joshi, industrialist Krishnakumar Goyal, Sunil Rasane (President of the Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple Trust), former corporator Abhay Chhajed, Pravin Chorbele, Geeta Goyal, along with office bearers of the Lions Club and other prominent personalities.

Rajesh Agarwal, trustee of the foundation, said that in the backdrop of growing social and economic disparity, mass wedding ceremonies have become the need of the hour. The excessive expenses involved in wedding ceremonies often place a heavy financial burden on families. In particular, the responsibility of a daughter’s marriage becomes a major concern for parents. In such situations, mass wedding ceremonies convey a positive message of unity, cooperation, and social responsibility in society.

Each couple who got married during the ceremony was presented with household essentials such as a cupboard, fan, mattress, bedsheet, mixer, temple unit, and a set of kitchen utensils. In addition, the bride and groom were also given complete clothing sets, a mangalsutra, and other necessary wedding items.

This initiative has now entered its 13th year, and in the past 13 years, a total of 261 couples have been married through this platform. The initiative, started out of the social commitment of the Goyal family, is helping poor and middle-class families begin their married life with dignity, said Naveen Goyal, Vedprakash Gupta, Vinod Jalan, Vinod Agarwal, and Ashish Goyal.
