Proposed 10% Increase in Ready Reckoner Rates in Pune Should Be Immediately Withdrawn – Strong Demand by AMCCIE
Pune: For the financial year 2026–27, it has come to light that the state’s Registration and Stamp Duty Department has proposed a 10% increase in Ready Reckoner rates in Pune. The Agrawal Marwadi Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Education (AMCCIE) has strongly opposed this proposal.
Rajesh Agarwal, National President of AMCCIE, stated that the prices of land, cement, steel, labour and other construction materials have already increased significantly. As a result, housing prices have already risen sharply, making it extremely difficult for common citizens, middle-class families and young people to purchase their own homes. In such a situation, if Ready Reckoner rates in Pune are increased by another 10%, the cost of stamp duty and property transactions will rise substantially, pushing the dream of home ownership even further away for common people.
He further stated that Pune is one of Maharashtra’s fastest-growing industrial and IT hubs, and the real estate and construction sectors are key pillars of the city’s economy. These sectors provide direct and indirect employment to lakhs of people. However, frequent increases in Ready Reckoner rates negatively affect property transactions, reduce investments and slow down market momentum.
In this context, AMCCIE has placed the following key demands before the Government of Maharashtra —
- The proposed 10% increase in Ready Reckoner rates in Pune should be immediately withdrawn.
- The current Ready Reckoner rates should be kept stable for at least the next five years.
- The government should take people-centric and pro-housing decisions to ensure affordable housing for common citizens.
AMCCIE has also appealed to major real estate bodies such as CREDAI, NAREDCO, as well as other builders and industry associations, to unite and strongly oppose this proposed increase and take a collective stand in the interest of common homebuyers.
Furthermore, MLAs from all political parties, members of the state cabinet and the Hon’ble Chief Minister have been urged to seriously consider this proposal and take a decision in the larger public interest.
It is expected that the government will maintain a balance between the interests of industry, the real estate sector and common citizens, and take a development-oriented and public-friendly decision.
