World Digital Detox Day (WDDD) to be observed tomorrow, 10 December

The campaign for World Digital Detox Day (WDDD) has been launched with the aim of reconnecting families fragmented by excessive screen use, restoring the fading essence of childhood, and helping society emerge from the overwhelming digital chaos. WDDD is the world’s largest digital wellness movement and is a non-profit initiative.
In nearly 80 countries, WDDD pledges and activities are being carried out under global wellness leadership. The worldwide celebration of this movement will take place tomorrow, 10 December, 2025. The governments of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh have officially endorsed the initiative, giving it broader national strength, stated Dr. Rekha Chaudhary, founder of World Digital Detox Day, during a press briefing.

Across all Indian states—and in every district of Maharashtra—schools, colleges, and hostels will enthusiastically observe World Digital Detox Day. Students will participate by taking the WDDD pledge, said Dr. Rekha Chaudhary, Chairperson of ZEP Foundation, in the press conference. Swan Foundation President Shashikant Kamble and Prasad Bhopale were also present.

Providing further details, Dr. Rekha Chaudhary said that WDDD is not just a public awareness drive—it is a global responsibility to safeguard humanity. It is not merely an annual day on the calendar. The movement seeks to correct the imbalance caused by excessive dependence on mobile phones, social media, computers, and similar gadgets, which has distanced people from real human connections. As part of WDDD, a rally will be held in Pune tomorrow, 10 December, from Shaniwarwada to Shanipar Chowk at 8:30 AM. Deputy Commissioner of Police Krushikesh Rawale, PMC Deputy Commissioner Madhav Jagtap, Women & Child Development Department Deputy Commissioner Yogesh Jawade, along with students from Sinhgad Foundation, Anurag Charitable Trust, and Hari Bhai Desai College will take part in the rally.

Shashikant Kamble remarked that Dr. Rekha Chaudhary’s initiative is revitalizing and has received tremendous global response. Distinguished individuals from more than 80 countries are now serving as ambassadors of WDDD. With the goal of building solidarity for global mental wellness, ZEP Foundation and Swan Foundation are jointly extending this movement across 80 countries.

Starting 26 January 2026, delegation of ten members will visit these 80 countries to work alongside WDDD ambassadors. During this international tour, awareness campaigns will be conducted across global institutions, associations, government departments, social organizations, schools, colleges, and universities. The 1111 Digital Fasting Formula of WDDD has garnered widespread international appreciation. In India, a 10,500-kilometre awareness rally from Kashmir to Kanyakumari has been planned, covering 20 states. The rally will visit Raj Bhavans, social organizations, schools, colleges, and universities in each state.
